Something else I find interesting, and worth digging into, is the fact that Claude Code really works its way through here – and my sense is that the usable token allowance with Claude Code must be 30 to 40 times higher than with Google’s Antigravity. Because with Antigravity I could do practically nothing: the first time I did manage to fix a few SEO errors, but only some of them, and the second time almost nothing worked anymore.
It’s also worth taking a look behind the scenes at what a strange policy Google is running here. In my view, Google urgently needs to course-correct, because right now – at least in Germany, via my route – there’s no regular access at all for working properly with Antigravity. As we found out over several rounds, I have no access to the corresponding AI subscriptions through my Google Workspace account, and strangely enough there’s no way whatsoever in my Workspace account to raise the token allowance for Antigravity. And that even though I’m no big-time developer: all I build are relatively simple, more or less static pages on Cloudflare Pages. And Cloudflare, in turn, meets me all the way and charges nothing for the hosting and the entire infrastructure – nothing at all.
It’s simply beyond me what Sergey Brin and Larry Page are pulling here – they’ve completely lost touch with reality. The old motto “Don’t be evil” doesn’t work anymore. And the ideas, too, and my enthusiasm back then for the book What Would Google Do?, which I listened to as an audiobook around 15 years ago and was thrilled by – that’s over. I think Google may already have passed its peak with this, it’s running the wrong policy, and Anthropic, with Claude, may already have pulled ahead of Google in real-world practice.
